Job Description

This exciting internship with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) offers students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience working within the U.S. aerospace system. Interns will complete a capstone project, learning and contributing to daily FAA operations. The internship runs from June 2, 2025, to August 15, 2025, with potential for extension. Positions are available across various FAA departments, allowing interns to work in career concentrations aligned with their academic fields.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a capstone project to support FAA operations.
  • Gain practical experience within one or more of the following fields:
    • Accounting/Finance
    • Aviation
    • Human Resources
    • Computer Science/Cybersecurity
    • Communication
    • Data Science
    • Engineering
    • Law
    • Policy
    • Mathematics/Statistics
    • Natural Sciences
  • Engage in FAA Regional facility tours and participate in leadership meetings for a comprehensive aerospace experience.

Qualifications

  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Academic Standing: Must be in good standing and enrolled at least half-time in a qualifying institution for Fall 2024 or Spring 2025.
  • Educational Program: Enrollment in an accredited college, university, or qualifying educational institution.
    • Undergraduate Students: Eligible for FV-0399-C band positions.
    • Graduate Students: Eligible for FV-0399-D band positions.

Experience

  • Open to students pursuing degrees or certificates at accredited institutions.
  • Positions are available for students from various fields of study, with a preference for those who can show relevant coursework or practical experience in the specific FAA career concentrations listed.

Skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate within team settings.
  • Interest in gaining aerospace experience and engaging in real-world projects.
  • Willingness to work on-site, with telework available at management discretion.
