Job Description
Become a Student Ambassador for the City of Garland and gain valuable experience while making a difference in your community! Join a team of over 2,000 employees dedicated to making Garland a great place to live, work, and play. This is a paid internship program designed to introduce students to municipal government and equip them with professional skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist City staff with various tasks depending on the department assignment.
- Participate in research projects, data collection, and report preparation.
- Attend meetings, workshops, and training sessions designed to enhance your professional development.
- Represent the City at designated events and functions.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while interacting with the public, City staff, and elected officials.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a high school, college, university, or trade school (minimum one year of completion required).
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred (on a 4.0 scale).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Self-motivated, highly organized, and possess a strong work ethic.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Experience
- Previous internship experience (a plus).
- Volunteer experience in a related field (a plus).
Skills
- Excellent research and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Time management skills.
- Ability to learn new concepts quickly.
