Job Description:
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Summer Internship Program offers an exceptional opportunity for students to gain insights into the regulatory and financial landscape of the derivatives and commodities markets. This program provides hands-on experience and exposure to various aspects of financial regulation.
Responsibilities:
- Support CFTC teams in research, analysis, and policy development related to financial regulation.
- Assist in reviewing and analyzing market data and trends in commodities and derivatives markets.
- Engage in projects focused on regulatory compliance, enforcement, or market surveillance.
- Collaborate with mentors on reports, presentations, and initiatives aimed at enhancing market transparency and integrity.
- Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars to broaden knowledge of financial markets and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program, preferably in Finance, Economics, Law, Business, or a related field.
- Strong academic record demonstrating analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Interest in financial markets, regulatory compliance, or policy analysis.
Experience: While prior experience in financial regulation or the financial industry is not required, any relevant coursework, internships, or extracurricular activities related to finance or law would be advantageous.
Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and draw meaningful conclusions.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
- Adaptability and eagerness to learn in a regulatory environment.
